10 000 tickets sold
Two weeks after the ticket release to the World Championships in Östersund 10 000 tickets are already sold. Success according to the organization. The weekly passes have been very attractive, especially among german visitors.
This weekend the Biathlon World Cup ended in Tyumen, Russia. But the intense training period for the athletes to get in shape for next years season is just around the corner, and the highlight next season is without doubt the World Championships in Östersund.
– We hope to get 120 000 visits 2019. To see that we after one week already have sold 10 000 tickets and that tickets continue to sell is great, and it’s better than we had expected, says Lisa Engman, marketing manager.
The tickets where released to the public on March 7th, exactly one year before the first race. A few days before the locals had had a chance to secure their ticket in central Östersund.
– We can see that the last weekend is the most attractive one, especially Saturday March 16th with the two relays. That’s the day we have sold most tickets to. Most popular is tickets to the stands during the weekends but we can also see that many choose the weekly pass. That people want to stay during a longer period is great for Östersund and the region of Jämtland Härjedalen.
Finding accommodation is the hard part for many visitors but there will be options for everyone. Temporary campings, hostels, Bed and Breakfasts and the opportunity to rent houses or apartments, yes there’s plenty of creative solutions to solve this problem.
– No one should be afraid that they won’t find a place to stay, it will work out. Then it might not be fifteen minutes walk from the stadium, but instead one hour cardrive away. But a WCH is a WCH, and everybody can’t stay in the center of Östersund if we shall reach our goal of 120 000 visits.
